Not the way you want to go home (pics)

Went to my first auto-x to watch my son drive. I did not take the truck on the course, even though it looks like I probably did! The truck was having electrical problems. So this is how I went home. These are my first pictures posted on the forum.

I guess everyone sees where my screen name comes from.

Nice truck!
You should do a search on flex-fans on the board. Lots of scary stories!!! The lucky people only had to replace a fan. The semi-lucky had to repair a hole in the hood. The unlucky ones made an unexpected trip to the ER.

And that's why you install a 10,000-rpm flex fan with double (two-plate) steel hub and fat stainless steel blades with 4-5 rivets per blade. It's the fans with the aluminum blades that fly apart, what happens is that due to the vibrations there's fatigue stress build-up in the metal around the rivets, and aluminum don't like stress and vibrations a whole lot, especially if said aluminum is relatively thin. Stainless steel has a much much better tensile strength, and the more rivets there are the less stress each sees. The two-plate hub is needed for better attachment of the blades to the hub, it works very well for reducing vibrations.

That said I wouldn't run a flex fan on a high-revv daily driver, but on a show truck that sees the road once in a blue moon a good flex fan can last quite a while.

rear- 17x9.5 tt2,s 275/ 50 tires - 5.5 backspace , with this size tire you could go to a 4.5 b s. would fill fender well better &shouldnt rub.

front- 17x 8 / 255/ 50 , rubs on hard turns ,a little wide 5.5 b s as well

rear approx. 4 " drop with shackles & hangers , another 2.5 (6.5 total approx.) by having springs dearcked, . learn by my mistake , dont do it this way , instead get a 6 " flip kit , then you can tweak it down a little more if you want to.

front- 2.3 drop spindles & 3 " coils (5.5 )
