Frame mount ?

Will the 73/87 big block frame mounts make a big block sit higher than normal in 67/72 frames? I have a friend that used them with a 396/700r4 combo and the trans.is hitting the cab.

Re: Frame mount ?

Is the cab a low hump? I thought the 73 and ups were a lot like the 72 onlys? Check on the tranny hump, if it is a low hump then he can put new cab mounts in and that might get it to clear?

Re: Frame mount ?

It is a low hump and has new mounts also. He said he had not used any shims though.

Re: Frame mount ?

I know the big block/TH400 combo using 68-72 towers makes a tight fit on low-humps and new cab bushings are needed. Not sure if 73-ups put it higher or not.I`m in a place where I need towers to install a 454 in my`67 project(low-hump).Not sure about auto or manual, yet.
