Same shift linkage/

For some unknown reason the PO of my 70 GMC 350 sb put in an auto steering column and installed a 3 speed floor shift. I am going to put it back stock but need some help. I found a 71 with a 3 on the tree and the linkage. The problem is that the motor is a 6 banger. Will the linkage work on my 8? Would the transmission be the same as mine? The doner truck is in an old junk yard and has been there for some time. It has sunk in the mud over time and I couldn't get under it to scope things out. They told me $100.00 for the column and linkage, does that sound about right? Thanks for any help you guys can give!

Re: Same shift linkage/

Welcome to the board from West Michigan!

I believe that the linkage will work as the transmissions are in the same location. The columns are the same.

The price of the column and linkage sounds a little on the high side unless everything is pristine.
