header gaskets
I think I asked this before and never got a really straight answer. My heads have regtangular ports and my headers have oval ports I am going to use aluminium gaskets should I use 1.5 regtangular or oval?
Thanks

Re: header gaskets
My header gaskets are 6 years old and blown out. I need new ones and thought about trying stock manifold gaskets. Alot of people here swear by them but I've never used them with headers.

Re: header gaskets
I have vortec heads which have square ports and the headers are round so I used aluminum square gaskets. They didn't work. I ended up using Mr Gasket round gaskets. They are for the vortec heads.

Re: header gaskets
mixup did they not work because they were not for vortec heads or because they were square?

Re: header gaskets
The vortec heads are square and don't look to much different from any other square smallblock head. I was told by more then one person to match the gasket to the head. I used Percys square aluminun gaskets and they didn't work. The Mr gasket gaskets I got were round and work perfect. If I ever change them again I might try the Percys round aluminun ones

Re: header gaskets
76Bonanza they leaked at every corner of the square. I think the round ones will work.

Re: header gaskets
I used stock manifold gaskets last time. The bolts would get lose and I wouldn't tighten them up like I should and they would finally blow out. I put stock back on again, just haven't started the truck yet. But I know they work. Well, I don't know what type heads I have. I didn't even pay attention. It's an 85 350
