Re: reving problems some one help
check the floats in the carbs, they could be fuel logged (like water logged) and sinking and trying to flood out the engine, my truck did that and thats what fixed it
if thats not the case then try advancing the timming a bit and see what happens

Re: reving problems some one help
I have already reset my floats... didnt really make any diff... and I spent a whole day (and a tank of gas) messing with my timing, and it made no difference either( though now I have a really cool small backfire at an idle, and when slowing down in gear
![]() On an original carburetor, I know that the bar holding the throttle linkage, and the butterfly valves round out their journal after X amount of years, and allow air to get inside, causing a vacuum leak, and subsequently, a backfire or "miss" situation. If yours is the original carb, or just an old one, try closing the choke plate a little bit a ta time, and see if that helps.. if it does, then I would gestimate to say, that the Air/fuel mixture is out of whack, and/or the carb is just worn out, and needs a rebuild/replacement.

Re: reving problems some one help
reseting the float level isnt going to help on a fuel logged float because its still going to sink
if its backfiring while slowing down it sounds like its running rich, it does sound cool and i love it to

Sounds to me like the timming chain jumped a tooth or two, you mignt want to take off the timming cover just to make sure... Just my two cents...
