Displaying Diecasts

Since we don't have a separate "diecast" forum, I am posting here.

I have been gathering 67-72 diecast trucks and blazers for a couple months. I have a good deal in packages and some without. I have been trying to think of the best way(s) to display on my wall in the garage over my work bench. I figured separate displays for the packaged ones and the loose ones. I would love to get some ideas and pics from other board member that have the urge to collect little toys. Also, is there a way to display packages of different sizes like Hotwheels and Johnny Lightning?

Re: Displaying Diecasts

I have 2 sheves on a bookshelf dedicated to my toys... I need more since I have other die cast trucks scattered all around on the TV, in the hall way, in the window sill....
Maybe I just need a bigger book shelf?
Note, my set up is nothing like this anymore. I have 4 or 5 times as many toys, and that book shelf won't fit anywhere now, so i had to down size.

Re: Displaying Diecasts

For the smaller scale Cars i used the Blue Hotwheels display case that they use to sell at the Mattel store or the mail in Offer back in the late 80's.
i had a alot of fun collecting cars and buying doubles and displaying the cars on the wall.
no longer collect them just collecting dust in my attic
here is a pic of what i was using on my walls

Re: Displaying Diecasts

I have mine on a Rattan entertainment center and now spreading to on top of the piano. I keep telling my wife we are ditching this old rattan thing so I can get something with more shelf space for my toys....soon as I find one I like (for a good price)

Re: Displaying Diecasts

Longhorn Man, Lots of people think that, mainly my wife...lol I haven't even shown 1/2 of my collection. I have over 200 of the Johny Lightning Blazers that are not pictured, and 20 more of the 55 Panels on the way to me to have customized like the ones in the first pictures. It did become an obsession for a while, but it has toned down some... There are two more of the stepsides coming out this year, and of coarse I will buy a few of them. I justify buying them because I have them hanging on hooks here in my store for sale, so my wife doesn't bother me too much about it...
WinDancer, I have about 6, 1/24th scale 67 long fleetside (Ace Hardware Trucks) for sale and 2 of the 1/64th LOC Ryders.

Re: Displaying Diecasts

Whatever you do,the key is keeping the dust off of them.I intend to build some cases that copy old store displays,as in antique.Just build a frame of wood and get glass cut to fit. There`s always cureo cabinets, the cases from hobby shops,or how about an old pie cooler from a restaraunt?
