Lugnut options for TT2's?
This may be a stupid question! I've never owned Alum. rims before and I just got some TT2's (thanks CLASSIC87!) but I don't have the lugnuts for them. Are there certain kind or style that I should use?

The manufacturer should tell you what "style" to use. Conical etc...

If you are ever unsure you can take one of your lug nuts to advanced auto parts and try their sizing board located near the lugnut aisle.

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku That's just a guess on what size and everything you want or might get, if you know for sure the size you can be exactly certain it doesn't use a different lug nut. That says it uses conical seat 60 degree lug nuts for them.

Got the lugnuts. Have a new question. What do I torque the wheels to? How many foot lbs.?

Did you buy the wheels new? or the lugs new? When I bought my cragars either they did or the lugnuts came with a paper telling you the torque and when to do it for new wheels.
Mine were shank style and were like 80 ft lbs. usually 75-100 is good. I tighten mine up as far as I can with my lug wrench, 4 way style by hand/arm only, check them with a torque wrench and it's about 80, so I leave it there.

Yes. Thats why I asked the question. I've never owned Alum. rims. They are used, so I don't have any paper work. I know a few guys on here own these rims so I was hoping for a quick answer.

I have always tightened them as much as I could with a 4-way. I never have had a problem w them over the last 5 years... u should be fine. Did u happen to get them installed this weekend? It was nice to meet you... Thanks, Anthony |

No, I worked on Sat. and did yardwork today. Nothing like bagging wet grass. Going to try and get them on tomorrow if it doesn't rain. Sucks not having a big garage!

CC, just put my 17x8 Torq Thrust IIs on tonight and torqed them to 100 ft/lbs. At work (sears auto) we torque most vehicles to 100 regardless of alum/steel wheels, the exceptions being toyota's (75-85) and med. duty trucks (150-165) Just be sure to re-torque them after 25-30 miles or so and then check them every so often

Well the papaer work with my new steel wheels had a chart in it.
for 1/2 lug nuts/studs it's 75/85 ft. lbs. thicker studs have more torque and thinner have less. I can type it all out if anyone is interested. It also says after 25 miles retorque and I always do after 100 anyways, after that you are usually fine, just every so often maybe give them a check. Mainly all the retorqueing is when you have everything new, like lugs, wheels and all, since they need to seat and all.
