Problems "pushing" the steering column forward
I read Putter's tech info in FAQ, and some other info I could find. I have a '72 Blazer tilt column I installed in my '69 C20 cab today. About 3/4" is all the further forward it will go, because the NSBU switch is TIGHT against the firewall. If I shove the column where I really want it (shift bowl against the cluster grommet) the NSBU switch would end up impossible to install, as it would be in the firewall. I suspect that those of you with an auto tilt column tight against the cluster have done away with the NSBU switch, relocated it requiring shift tube/ housing fabrication or used a van column that ends up with the switch on the outside of the firewall.
Or am I missing something

mine is a van unit, I did away with the switch.
If I start in in gear, I deserve to be shot anyways IMO. |

Re: Problems "pushing" the steering column forward
Jeffspower - You can retain the NS switch by moving it away from the original location. Follow the FAQ and move it UP the column the required amount.
