4 3/4 lug pattern...can we?
Is there a way to run these on our trucks? Anybody make front rotors drilled to that pattern that will swap out with our current 5 on 5's ? Does anyone make rear axels drilled with that pattern we can swap out our six or five lug axels with?

That extra inch can really mess you up if you're lowering your ride.

Most machine shops can redrill the 5x5 to 5x4.75 bolt pattern on your axles & rotors.

Re: 4 3/4 lug pattern...can we?
...Yea, I'm in the same boat....I was given aprox. $1500.00 worth of Rims & Tires for my truck, 29x18.5x15 Mickeys on 15x14 rims (5 on 4.5" b.p.) for the rear, set up for a 9" rear and 27x7x15 M.T.'s (5 on 4.75" b.p.) for the front ......my thing is ...Being some rims are "Hub-Centric", and others are "Lug-Centric"....will a machine shop turn down the hub size if needed?

Yes, if they're set up for drilling rotors/hubs, they can turn the hub down as well.

Re: 4 3/4 lug pattern...can we?
actually the turning of the hub will require a lathe and the re-drilling of the bolt pattern will more than likely be done on a knee mill ... two different setups. but any competent machine shop will have both pieces of equipment needed to do this for ya.

Re: 4 3/4 lug pattern...can we?
Well I had a line on a set of wheels that were a very good price. But it sounds like the cost to make a truck work with these is going to be to prohibitive. Thanks for the responses guys.

Re: 4 3/4 lug pattern...can we?
Also,you can...
find a 71-72 or 73-74 Chevy van... YES Chevy VAN... they had 5 on 4-3/4 bp from the factory. Only 71-74. 75 they went to the 5 on 5. (This is what kind of info 20 years in Auto Parts gets you) All you need is the spindle. ball joints and tie rod ends are the same as pick-up. for which ever year respectively. 71-72 same as 71-72, or 73-74 uses 73-later stuff... here's the cool part. the caliper, rotor and pads are 70-77 camaro, so easy to find replacements parts for. Also, some aftermarket companies even sell slotted performance rotors and replacement dual piston calipers for 70-77 camaro... Here's the only possible negatives... FIRST, finding a donor 71-74 Chevy Van... Second, the rotor diameter is a bit smaller, thickness is the same. So your unfortunately not going to a larger diameter rotor, but a smaller... I'm not sure but our trucks are 11" (?) and these Van (camaro) are 10-1/2" (?) you might want to double check that... But, I luckily have 2 pairs of these spindles. one set is 71-72, other is 73-74 I will be using one or the other on either this current project or the next project. All this just to run corvette style rally's. Any quality machine shop can redrill your rear axles to 5 on 4-3/4 bp, then just go buy rear drums for the 71-72 chevy van, the shoes and hardware is all the same as our pick-ups PM me with any questions...

Re: 4 3/4 lug pattern...can we?
Hey thanks for that very good info. Im going to have to save that. Late last nite someone offered the guy more money for the wheels than I did. Now I have to decide if I want to up the anti (sp?).

Re: 4 3/4 lug pattern...can we?
That is interesting info on the van spindles, but I think it is going the wrong direction for better brakes and lowering our trucks.
You have to get rare spindles. They do not lower the truck...and it takes expensive aftermarket HP brakes to make it stop. A set of 5on5 wheels are looking better to me. Just mho. |

I do agree... the truck I'm using mine on will be a weekend cruiser, no load, stock engine, so I guess my thoughts were the camaro disc will still be better than the '67-'68 factory drum brakes, I'm taking off. I did list the brake size as a negative...
