Re: need to get started on body work..
well i'd start by sitting down and figureing out a realistic budget and alot of the budget depends on what you expect to use the truck for daily driver beater show custom show factory correct restored etc// do you want it drivable as you do the work or are you willing to stip it naked and start from the ground up with the bare frame// if i were to start on it as a driver ratrod project i'd remove the bed and do the fenders steps tailgate and box as well as installing the floor and while the bed is off is a great time to do the rear frame suspension brakes etc// also getting my immediate attention for a driver would be the nightmare of a wireing harness
getting catalogues is a must to set your plans in motion and set the budget keep in mind its not at all a difficult task to run the bill up and beyond 25thoousand dollars// if you're looking to make a profit sell it now before spending anything

Re: need to get started on body work..
well i dont know if you saw my welcome post..but it was my best friends truck and he just passed away last week and i have no intentions in selling it ever..he always talked about restoring it and now im gonna do it in memory of him so the profit thing is not on my mind at all...it runs just needs some metal and cleaning up and paint..all the mechanical stuff isno big deal to me..i dont want a show truck i just want a decent looking daily driver..the bed is already off of it..he took it apart and was gonna replace the boards..im willing to pull the cab off and do the frame etc.. just looking for a good starting point to get the rust out of the way..i already ordered like 4 catalogs..and yes money is a factor..im not rich, but i dont have a deadline for the project..

Look in the Index link in my sig, there's a link to a HUGE discussion we had on restoring/fixing up trucks that's good reading.
