Ammeter doesn't work - where to start ?

I have some spare gauges I can try, but before I take the dash out, aren't there some small fuses in the front harness that has something to do with the guage ?

PS - I had to push my truck, 71 c20 thru the drive thru line at McDonalds and out into the parking lot last night. The dog was in the front seat but could not drive, so I had to do it all myself. Pretty embarrassing. I have the alternator fixed now, (brush was stuck) but it would be nice to have the gauge fixed so I can keep an eye on it !!! Thanks

There should be a fuse close to the junction block on pass side fender and the other in the vicinity of driver side headlight. They are 4 amp and the holders look like black footballs.

Thanks for the quick reply, I needed to verify if I was on the right track, was pretty sure those fuses connect to the gauge, I will try that first.
