battery not charging
ok guys, I'm getting sick to my stomach trying to figure this truck out... I bought a new external regulator and didn't help, got alternator tested and was bad, but new on one, and still not chargin battery. I found some bad wires from the alternator to the regulator and have fixed that problem and tested with the multi-meter and are good from alternator to regulator and still not charging battery, only running 12.XX at the battery and at the postive on the alternator.
Guys what else could the problem be!! Need all the help!!!! what do I need to look for or test? thanks all knowledgeable ones!

Re: battery not charging
Check to see if you have a complete circuit between alt. large red wire and the battery + terminal. If not your fuse link is blown.

Re: battery not charging
If the wires from the alt. to voltage reg. are right, then you have another bad alt. Check to see if you are getting voltage to the plug-in wires on alt. with switch on also.

Re: battery not charging
have you revved the engine up. my alternator kicks on once it hits 1500 or 2000 rpm after I crank it up.

Re: battery not charging
I just went through the same thing with my truck. I replaced the battery, alternator, and regulator. Turned out to be the horn relay.

Re: battery not charging
With the truck running, disconnect the pos. battery terminal. If the truck dies your system is not charging. If it stays running test the voltage from the pos. cable to the neg. terminal and the body ground. You should get between 13-14vdc. You could have a partial short or the battery itself could be dragging it down. Good luck.
