Rear End Yolk Replacement
When i picked up my truck from the tranny shop today (got a rebuilt TH350 put in it...shifts nice and firm
 ), the guy mentioned that my rearend yolk had a big chunk out of it, and the U-joint wasn't sitting quite right. I noticed the chunk when i changed the carrier bearing back in July, but i didn't do anything about it. So, how do i change the yolk in the rearend? It is a 12-bolt corporate, with 3.07 open gears, and coil springs if that matters. I already know how to remove the driveshaft. Thanks for the help!

I used a two jaw puller on mine. No big deal. You should mark the orientation, and also the spot where the nut is on the pinion shaft. When you put it back together, you don't want it any looser or any tighter than it was. This will affect your ring/pinion alignment.

Also, If you have to buy a new one, they are expensive. I have a used one I would be willing to sell, if needed.

So i mark the yolk in orientation to the rearend, mark the nut in orientation to the yolk, take off the nut, yank off the yolk with a puller, and put everything in the same way it was before?
minibike, i may have already located a used one, but i'm not sure if it the correct one. I think they are different between the 67-70 trucks, and the 71-72 trucks. Mine is a '72. If this one isn't the right part, i will be interested.

The one I have is off of a 71 rear end. If you want it, it is $20 including shipping. Let me know if the other one doesn't work out.
