new goodie

i got this new tranny yesterday in to put it in my truck behind a 454. the only problem i got is that i don't know what clutch to use or what pilot bushing. its a t56 of a 95 maro. i know that "shifty" is doing a similar swap but with a 5.3 in front of it. but its similar to the ls1 so there is parts available. but in this case i don't know what clutch assembly to use. i know i have to use the 454 flywheel because since is a gen 5 its externally balanced, but since the tranny is a 26 spline input shaft i have to use either the maro clutch disk or something else. Now i did some research and found out that the maro clutch disk is 11 7/8" in diameter, but a regular clutch set for the flywheel that my 454 requires has a 11 inch clutch disk. now my question is....

would it affect it if i use the 11 7/8" clutch disk in the 454 flywheel?
or clutch disk and pressure plate should i use?

here are some pics.

i know that the bellhousing is broken, but i got another one coming in the mail =D

here is the engine is going in

Re: new goodie

That is a LOT of engine for a tranny that has problems handling the power of a stock small block. I cannot answer the clutch question specifically though.

well it has a lot of torque but no horsepower. my friends maro has a ls2 pushing close to 500 hp and 512 ftlbs tq on the stock tranny.. my big hunky gas guzzling ineficient motor isnt even close to that.it can handle it.

anyways bump

Re: new goodie

I looked into this same swap for my 71.
You can google this swap it's pretty common. It's been a bit since I looked, but here's what I remember. Toss away the factory bellhousing. There is an adapter plate (found on ebay) that you use on a factory 4 spd bell, a 621 works I think. Because you keep your stock bell you can use the stock clutch as well. Just make sure you get the 26 spline one for a t-10. The fork and throwout are the same too. I think. The only trouble is the speedo, becuase that one is electronic, but someone makes an adapter. Try keisler engineering. Not too thorough but I hope it helps
