Re: wheres the best place to buy replacement planes

I would pass on the big names , if you want to get the best parts available and customer service to boot check out the venders listed on the site . I purchased 1500 dollers of parts from good mark and was only happy with half of them . i just bought some parts from gmc pauls and was extremely impressed with the quality .There are some parts that arent made very well what you want is someone you can trust to tell you that and not just take your money .

The airport?

Couldn't resist

All the parts I bought (doors and front fenders) were all Tri-Plus sold through Goodmark. Other venders (lots of them) sell Tri-Plus stuff.

Your best (and cheapest option) is to find a local distributor and pick the stuff up in person or go to a local swap meet. That way you can also inspect the stuff in person.

Re: wheres the best place to buy replacement planes

i have baught almost everything off g.m.c paul. he sells triplus parts and i have never had any problem, matter of fact i just baught everything to redo my floor today. he is only about an hour away from me so, like 67 chevy redneck says. it is good to have someone locally , to inspect parts pick them up your self. you can build a freindship with them and trust.

Re: wheres the best place to buy replacement planes

Goodmark and Yearone market themselves like they make all these resto parts...they don't. I worked for a glove box mfg. about 8 yrs ago. We sold the same boxes to Goodmark, Yearone,Classic Ind. and about a half dozen other places. We also made gaskets for Street and Performance in Mena, AR as well as Brodix...both places there were 10 min. from the facility. I would stick with Tri-Plus or any of the other vendors here. BTW, the 67-72 boxes were always my favorite...

Re: wheres the best place to buy replacement planes

I had the same line of question I have family in the KC area and can get all the panels from LMC and avoid the truck freight charge. Is there really a big problem with the quality of the parts from there?? Sorry I'm a noob who is about to pick up his first truck tomarrow and really want to get started.

Herve Villachez(sp?)
The only real problem with LMC is that they are LMC.There are a lot of BB vendors who have, better pricing, better service, better tech support, and are supporters of this site. Most of the parts are Tri-Plus and will be about the same as far as quality, however the BB vendors will check to see if they are tweaked or if they have been damaged. There is a reviews section that will tell you the pros and cons of transactions from the viewpoint of the buyer.

Re: wheres the best place to buy replacement planes

We bid on this one located at andrew AFB on a government auction. We lost.

what about Manes truck parts? they are in Odessa they sell TriPlus. and so does Keystone in Bridgeton. Not sure if they handle panels for these trucks at that location though.

Re: wheres the best place to buy replacement planes

Hi Sean. I wouldn't count on any after market plane fitting like good ol' GM planes. I haven't tried all of the after market planes sold but the stuff I have tried needed alot of work to make the body lines work. Good luck!!

Re: wheres the best place to buy replacement planes

I bought my inner and outer rockers, cab corners and cab mounts from GMC Pauls and had minimul trouble getting them to fit. 90% of the trouble I had was trying to make sure cut I cut enough of the old panels out but not cutting to much. One of my inner rockers was on back order and they were willing to get it from one of their competitors to get it to me, I wasn't in that big of a hurry so I told them to ship it when they got it back in stock, but it could have been here inside of a couple days had I needed it now.

Without a doubt the crew at GMC Pauls is top notch to deal with, and great prices and products to boot.

GMC Pauls is my vote but i"ve heard alot of other guys say the same about other board vendors aswell.

Hope this helps,
Frank

Lots of venders, just a couple manufaturers .... (they all sell the same stuff.) If you can get original you will be a happier camper always. I paid way too much for my truck compared to the average price people are paying on the board but I only needed a tailgate .... I've had two (aftermkt units) not happy with either. Looking for an original gate. Cab corners and rockers are not bad but that is all that I would recommend.

esll.
