Re: Leave Inner Fenders or Remove??
Any rocks/ debris flung by the front tires can put dents in the hood. Even running without a fan shroud can do damage. Been there, done that.

Re: Leave Inner Fenders or Remove??
Looks unfinished (to me) without inner fenders. And certainly anything that gets driven should have them -- in my opinion.

Re: Leave Inner Fenders or Remove??
When I bought my greens and white the po had removed them do to wide tires and a torched spring lowering job. I dont recomend it if you will use your truck as a daily driver. Yah stuff hit the hood and cab and got the engine room filthy real quick. I put them back in as soon as I got a shop to replace the front springs with stock ones.
P.S. The only thing I liked about them removed is what easier to work on the engine. lol Last edited by Aarons72s; 07-23-2007 at 11:54 PM. |

Re: Leave Inner Fenders or Remove??
The only way i would do that is if it was a total Pro Street race type setup.
The backsides of stock fenders are ugly, bare mounting holes are ugly, and fully exposed , stock frame rails are also -- ta dah - ugly. But if you had a tube chassis, or a boxed front end with tubular A-arms or something, along with some sweet custom headers bolted to your big block, then by all means -- take 'em out -- you just have to spend more time on underhood cleanup |

Re: Leave Inner Fenders or Remove??
on my 72 i didnt run them at all. i never drove it on rainy days .and now that it is in a hundred pieces. i defanitly dont. when i am in the build up stage i wont be running them either. on my 67 i dont run them either. it is a daily driver. although last years winter, took a mighty fine toll on my newly painted engine, so for that reason id say on a dd .id run them. funny story. i had a lite accident about 4 years ago in my 72. took it to work ,new grill new fender bumper. and a quick repaint.(painters love body men) for favors and what not . any ways in about 3 days my truck looked as if nothing had happen. and i didnt run inner fenders then, anyways i was out showing off , how fast i got my truck fixed and , wouldnt you know it. a rock came up and smacked my hood, busted through and left a huge outie< spell .in the hood. needles to say when i went back to work monday, the painters was not impress to walk in and see my freshly painted hood, back in metal glaze and in primer. but they did get it done that day for me

Re: Leave Inner Fenders or Remove??
I too don't have the inner fenders. The PO took them out. I don't drive mine in the rain either. And mine is not a daily driver. It is much easier to work on the engine. When I finish up the body work and get it repainted, then I'll put them back in.

Re: Leave Inner Fenders or Remove??
I'm going to keep them in place in my 68 showtruck. Though I'm going to paint them the body color.
