Restortation Complete - 67 Shorty 2wd
Well it is time for new pictures... Truck is assembled except for a few details. It drives, burns fuel, and goes up and down. Took my '71 Cheyenne LWB apart in Feb 05, worked on it during the winters in 05, 06, then about Feb 07 I started burning the midnight oil to get it done for driving this summer. My dad is coming back to Montana for a visit in August and since he bought me the truck back in 92, I wanted to share it with him in its rebuilt condition.
Like many I swapped to an early front clip, also I put in a Ford 9" rearend so I could run less backspace and tubbed the rear wheelwells 5.5". I used ART air ride with the BigRed valves and 3/8" line. 2.5 Drop spindles in the front, stock A arms, C-notch in the rear. Did all the painting in my garage, huge mess in an attached garage, but my wife is a very understanding lady, bless her heart. In the obsessive drive to get it done I have lost 20 lbs, and emptied my bank account, but you can't put a price on fun, right? I could not have done this truck without the help of this forum; so many hurdles and questions but the answers were here every time . |

The third picture is ride height, or just about. If would like to see the pictures of the build you can visit my gallery over at Hotrodders.com. http://www.hotrodders.com/gallery/sh...p?ppuser=30718 |

That is a damn fine truck!!! So you did all the painting by yourself? Can I ask how that turns out without having an oven?

Re: Restortation Complete - 67 Shorty 2wd
you lost 20 pounds huh... maybe I need to thrash on my rig for a while... my account is already drained, so I'm 1/2 way there, right?
Your truck looks sweet, I hope your dad likes it. As for the wife, that is awsome that she is that understanding. I think you owe her a HUGE thank you IMO. Not many people, let alone ladies, would put up with that on an attached garage. BTW, she got a sister? |

Yes, the wife is very understanding, I guess if it makes me happy, and keeps me at home, she is happy! Did I mention she is 5 months pregnant too? So about the time I can find very little to mettle with on the truck, I will be changing more diapers. Recent ultrasound showed boy parts, so that'll be two boys, psyched! A sister; yea two of them, but they don't let there men spend all their money on truck parts! Too bad really... |

Gotta be a great feeling!!
You built one helluva nice looking truck. Great color, stance, and love the deeper offset rears!!!

Re: Restortation Complete - 67 Shorty 2wd
Thanks much, yea I was second guessing the idea to change rear-ends when I was installing it but now I am happy. I was worried when I took it for alignment that it would not be in there straight, but the alignment guy said it was really close. Only downside is that its got 4.10s... I thought I counted it as a 3.55 gear set but I must have miscounted or something, that'll happen when you are in the garage way past midnight!

Re: Restortation Complete - 67 Shorty 2wd
I didn't even notice the deep dish rear wheels... gives it a bit more of the old school hot rod look, while keeping it modern... very nice touch.
As for the gears... the 9 inch just has the drop out, so it's nothing to swap gears IIRC. Minor set back. |
