A/C compressor seal?

OK, so I got my A/C working in my 72 GMC truck, with the original A6 compressor. I converted the system over to the R 134 with a new POA valve. The guy that did the work told me it was leaking though, in the back of the compressor where the big cover plate goes on. Is Anyone aware of a gasket or seal the can be replaced there?

Under that plate in the rear of the compressor are two o-rings, but often the plate itself is warped or the tubing is cracked at the weld.

Re: A/C compressor seal?

Are you talking about the aluminum block that the lines bolt to the compressor? Because I am talking about the big round plate that bolts to the round compressor housing. There are 4 studs that are spot welded to the round comp. housing. Should I take the back off the comp. and look for the 2 o rings?

Re: A/C compressor seal?

I was talking about the aluminum connector block. However, there is also a large o-ring that seals the compressor rear head to the compressor shell which is the connection you are talking about.

Re: A/C compressor seal?

Yep, that's what I'm referring to. Any ideas where to get one of those seals?

Re: A/C compressor seal?

It has an o ring on the rear cover. I would see if NAPA has a kit, or take it apart and match it from a o ring supplier. Heres a soso diagram of the A-6 comp. this place also has some A-6 kits but it didn't specify which o rings.

Re: A/C compressor seal?

John, thats what I'm looking for. Thanks! LMC doesn't list any internal compressor seals. I checked at the local Ace Radiator and can probably get an internal seal kit from them. It would be #14 in the diagram, I think. My A/C guy had it blowing *43. That's not bad, I guess. Thanks guys!!

Re: A/C compressor seal?

Got it!! From the local Ace Radiator. Part # MT2117. The kit came with interior compressor seals, about 5 of them. Cost was $9. Now to get it installed.
