I have seen some posts on folks dropping in a 5.3 or 6.0. Has anyone done this with a flexfuel motor to take advantage of E85? What would be different?

Factory set ups have a fuel composition sensor, different pcm calibrations. If I can remember just about the entire fuel system is different. check this place out though http://www.rune85.com/. E85 is cheaper, but you get less mpg. More power though.

it would be just like all the other gen3 or gen4 swaps... the e85 motors are the same with the exception of the injectors... and the computer tables

And there is an in tank sensor to measure the level of e85. Also you will need to get it the pcm reflashed if it is a newer one. 07 models had a slight problem with the programming would only composate for 85% ethanol or below 15% I guess most people run there tanks dry and then refuel??? I don't know GM releashed a pcm update for it on all 07 models with E85.

Thanks for the good info. It has crossed my mind doing at least a genIII swap with tranny especially in cali if the really start tightening down out here. Im lucky my 68 is exempt but how long will that last? That is the question.

I believe other parts of the fuel system have been upgraded to withstand the long term effects of E85. Mainly fuel lines, O-rings, fittings, etc...
