Re: Restoration help

OK, this is where I usually start.
Brakes, wheel bearings, calipers brake lines etc. Not totally expensive and super easy to start with.
Next, Wiring. Totally go thru the wiring one at a time or replace the whole kit and caboodle (easiest if you buy the direct plug and play wiring harness) do a little at a time.
Drive it while you can, buy a part here and there (I buy them by groups) first the interior pieces (or I restore the interior pieces), once you have assemled all the parts and pices for after the body work then get the body work done.
take the bed off and ship it off to get painted.
send the front clip off to get painted,
then the cabl
reassemble
and your done
OH yeah somewhere inbetween work on the motor and drivetrain.

First off you need a plan not a dream list and a budget (be realistic!!!!) as you know what is in the bank and what you can spare for a truck project. You also need to be realistic about what you are capable of doing and what will have to be farmed out, the latter is more money. DO YOU HAVE MORE MONEY to do this?? You will need a place to work on your truck and tools, do you have this available to you. Restoration is more then just taking things a part. You should do some reading, buy a manual for your year of truck and some books on the subject "retoration."

Guys that build cars at home in the shop out back in most cases have been doing this a long time. They have a net work of guys like themseves that have experience, tools etc .... they talk about their projects share ideas and advice, this is a huge benifet for anyone in the hobby.

I'm not trying to be negative here but if you do not have some of the above skills and benifets, I would not take anymore of your truck apart.

Was your truck running when you bought it? If it was put it back together and enjoy driving your truck and do small things to make your truck safer and gain experience as you go. LOL

esll.
