Need pics. of transfer case mounts and bushings
I pulled out trans. and transfer case a couple of month ago, I took pics but
didn't get right detail. Now I'm trying to put it back in and can't figure out how the transfer case mount and bushings fit to the frame, nothing is lining up for me at this time? It in a 71 chevy 3/4 ton 4X4. Manual four speed trans. Thanks Last edited by tractorsx; 08-03-2007 at 05:44 PM. |

check out my build thread, should be the same... I can assist with any "detailed" pics that you need.

Re: Need pics. of transfer case mounts and bushings
Thanks for the pics both of you guys, I looked at all of them, a couple of them were very close but I could'nt make out what I needed. I'll go outside in a short while and take pics of what I am looking for and what my problem is? I haven't posted pics on this board before, but I'll try. What I'm looking for is the placement of the bushings, and which half is top and bottom, there is a large and small half each?

The thicker bushings go between the lower frame rail lip, and the large bracket. The thinner bushings go between the larger and smaller bracket. The smaller bracket is bolted to the center of the frame, and the large bracket from the lower frame lip to the side of the T-case. Hope this helps.

Re: Need pics. of transfer case mounts and bushings
Thanks a million times for the pics eedgell!!! That was just what I needed. That's how I thought it all fit togather but it just wasn't lining up, in the end I finally had to force some of the bolts in place, didn't like doing that very much, left a few scratches. Anyways THANKS AGAIN.

Re: Need pics. of transfer case mounts and bushings
Mine dont line up perfect either. I have to use a big punch to line up the 5/8" bolts.

Re: Need pics. of transfer case mounts and bushings
There are plenty of threads that recommend NOT installing that bracket as it does not allow the drive train to move under torque and that cracks the transmission to transfer case adapter. I left mine off the 72 K20.
