Engine update on burned truck> pics&startup video

It's about ready to start.
I turned it over using a ratchet on the crankshaft.. (as 1969k10stepside suggested)... It turns over. Here are some pictures. I just couldn't send it off to scrap without knowing....

Re: Engine update on burned truck> pics

I don't get it? First pic has water lines and carb vaccum lines plugged. Second pic has one water line burned and one cut. No vacuum lines. No fan belt. Third pic is melted carb. NOPE, I don't get it.

Re: Engine update on burned truck> pics

Hey xshadow, sorry about that. I thought that might be the case. I had a friend that did that to an engine once. A fuel leak and a BADLY timed engine. Then tried to smother it with a styrofoam cooler. That's another story, NOT good. BUT, the carb melted just like yours but the throttle plates kept anything big from falling into the engine. It's still running today as far as I know. I don't know about him though..

That's just plain ugly. I'd pull the intake and look at least before I junked it.

Re: Engine update on burned truck> pics

The engine had already been in a fire when I got it. Some think it will run and just needs new gaskets. others think it's history. Some think it may start but not run good at all.
what do you guys think.....I'll know the answer this weekend...THE Pictures aren't in order. the burned one is first. we changed the carb and hooked up a radiator

Re: Engine update on burned truck> pics

You don't need a radiator, or even really a carb to see if it runs.
Here's the motor before it went in my truck
