just an idea........
ive had an idea for a while but i would not even attempt it right now for lack of cash. i would like to get a new chevy/gmc truck, most likely wrecked with a good frame and running gear and interior. around like 99 or 2000 model. id like to put a 64-66 body on it and leave all the running gear from the new one, and take the dash and all interior and make it look as much like the new truck on the inside as possible. like on the outside it looks just like a stock 64-66 truck, but on the inside it looks just like a 99 or 2000 truck and rides and drives the same. really since i think about it, it wouldent really be that expensive to do if i could find a newer truck in good condition wrecked for cheap. just alot of fabricating to make things fit. what do yall think? im going to do this someday so please tell me any ideas you have or any links or pics to anybody else thats done something similar.
thanks, John

Re: just an idea........
I've had a simular idea like that. I would keep the interior stock looking with modern day equipment eg. power windows door locks stereo, that sort of thing.

Re: just an idea........
I personally am fond of the 60's interiors. Its one of my favorite things about them. Nowadays the full sheet metal interior is pretty desirable in new car fabrication. Nonetheless, my 2000 gmc sierra is for sale if you like the interiors that much.

Go for it! Just rememberthe electronics,(computers, harnesses, guages, sensors, etc) will have to be retained for the newer chassis to run. Precise planning would be critical or the truck WILL NOT RUN. Good luck whenever you get to start on it. Jerry

I am having a difficult enough time with an 84 chassis swap out, and I do restoration for a living! I'll keep you posted on the 84 swap-out to give you an idea of what it takes. Jerry

Re: just an idea........
I've seen it done to a 67 (newer running gear and gauges). It's possible.
