1960-inline 6
My first post folks:
I am about to buy an ultra clean 60 model short stepside, with granny 4 spd, and inline 6. Can anyone tell me if any of the late model automatic overdrive trannys will bolt up without a special adapter??? I haven't seen the truck yet, but have the word of someone I trust. I am assuming the eng is the old 235, blueflame 6, but not sure. Any help appreciated REGARDS DAN |

Im not sure but you can check here...www.inliners.org... I run a inline 250 w/ 200-4r, I like it.

Is the 2004r a direct bolt up to the 250??? Swapping to a 250 from the stock 235 shouldn't be too tough. DAN |

The trans bolts up to the 250 no prob, the 200-4r uses the BOP/Chevy bolt pattern. You just go to workout the TV detent hookup on the carb if you run in stock form.

I have a 200-4r in mine with a 350. The easy way to do it is to run a non-lockup torque converter.

think that a 2 speed powerglyde is a direct bolt up. love those old inlines. so much torque and notoriously tough to kill.

350/2004r sounds like a good combo, but if you use a non lockup converter, be careful of your rear end ratio/converter relationship. If your engine rpm while cruising is lower than your stall on the converter, it will slip constantly , and fry everything. If this happens, the solution is to go back to a lockup with some stall, if you are going to hot rod, and install a simple switch to disable the lockup while racing, and switch it back on for cruising. Welcome from NM. Later model tranny's on older sixes require an adapter. On the later 230's, 250's and 292's, the newer tranny's will bolt up directly.
