What did you get done?

Wednesday evening I pulled the injector cover off of the Ramjet in my 77. They are going to my buddies shop to have a little artwork added to them. It pulled a few small parts to go the the chrome plater while I was under there.

I spent Friday night and Saturday Morning watching my daughter play High School volleyball. Had lunch with friends then went by my buddies shop to drop my motor covers off.

Washed my daily drivers Saturday morning, then it rained. I washed them again Sunday morning and it hasn't rained again so far.

This afternoon I spent a couple of hours detailing my beach cruiser bicycle. I have ridden it in the rain a few times and it needed a good clean up.

What did you get done?

One would think that by now you'll know what happens when you wash yer trucks, but no, you still keep trying

Around here it's been Dream Cruise craze all week - took the hot-rod Lincoln out on Thursday, and again on Friday, it was freakin awesome - tons of cars and trucks, tons of folks sitting along Woodward Avenue, you really have to have seen it to know what it's like. Saturday was the big cruise event, took the truck for that one, had some buddies in the bed chilling in lawn chairs drinking beer and taking pics of everything nice - did two passes from 14 Mile down to 11 and then back up, that took most of the afternoon. Didn't go without troubles tho - maintaining 300-400rpms in 1st gear for hours straight don't do any good for the sparkplugs if you got a oil-burning issue, and by halfway through the second pass engine was misfiring so badly it sounded like I have a big block and some massive lopey cam in it, folks kept bugging me to light up the tires all the time - lil did they know I can't hit 2500rpms even if my life depends on it. I did figure out what causes the oil burn, and problem has been neutralized, just need to clean the plugs now and I'll be back in business, but the whole thing just goes to prove how hard it is to kill a 350 SBC, and how lil it takes to keep it running

In the evening usually there are tons of burnouts, but this year cops were really cracking down on it, must have had some pretty bad accidents last year... we did have some bikers put out quite the smoke show, I even have one of them on a short video. Then there was also that guy Jimmy who at noon sharp hopped in his Chevelle and got in the middle of the street and just layed on the gas, and kept roasting and roasting and roasting the tires, some of the neighbors even though a fire broke out in someone's car, that's how much smoke there was, then a police cruised showed up and Jimmy was dragged out at gunpoint and locked in the back of the cruiser for some time, then he was let go and no he's facing a $500 ticket, apparently that ain't nothing new to him tho, we were told he gets the same ticket every Dream Cruise, and he actually starts saving up for it as early as beginning of summer

So yeah, that was a fun weekend, too bad I missed my buddy pull a 1/4 mile burnout in his TransAm and then blowing a tire, and his dad popping a wheelie in his decked-out Cuda every time he upshifted, but oh well, there's alwasy next year

Oh yah, pics will be posted in the general discussion section when I get them uploaded somewhere.

rollpan...over my weekend (mon, tues, and luckily I get wed off too!) I will finish primering the rest of the truck, with the exception of the tailgate...no need primering it since its going to be scrap anyway (trust me, its fubar'd).

Re: What did you get done?

Worked. When I was done working, I went back & did it again . We also took the young one & her friend to the Family Values concert on Friday night.

I did cut off the slightly rusted pieces that needed repair on the steel floor for my 68. I'm having some new pieces made (patch panel sort of thing). Of course, as soon as I had them off & the metal cleaned up the clouds started rolling in. They're wrapped in trash bags now until the patch panels are welded in.

Went looking today @ a local swap meet for a set of wheel tubs for my 68's mini-tub modification. Since I had to wait until today, everyone (& most everything) was already packed up & gone. So..... still looking.

Re: What did you get done?

Started off Saturday by picking up another truck to work into the mix. I also painted my Rambler motor and started getting all the "stuff" under the hood ready for the chrome plater. I had some down time after the first coat so I started taking the new truck apart. Before I knew it I had it down to the frame, now it's time for a c-notch and some other mods and then start throwing parts at it.

Re: What did you get done?

Got up early saturday and headed into town to pick up all the fittings I needed to get the ac/ up and running in the blazer. Thought I had everything, so I headed over to do some wiring for a friend who is doing an LS1 swap. later found out that I needed two different fittings, stores were all closed of course. So I'll hafta wait till tomorrow.

Sunday went to the lake with some frineds, we all had a good time despite the rain.

Re: What did you get done?

Lots!

Engine is freshened up and in, transmission is rebuilt and in, t-case is rebuilt and in, front end is rebuilt and lifted 4", cab is bolted back down, electrical is done and the interior is almost back together.

Still need to finish my brakes, XJ steering shaft swap, PS pump bleeding, and lifting the rear

Should be roadworthy by the end of the week, just in time to tuck it into the shop when I start school on the 27th

I'll be saving my pennies over the winter, and drop it off at a bodyshop early next year with hopes it is ready to hit the road next spring after I finish school

Re: What did you get done?

Nothing truck related here, either. I picked up a 66 Suburban a while back, but haven't been able to even start anything on it. I need to go pick up my Nova donor car from out in the sticks to get started on making the Sub mobile. Since my wife is in nesting mode, I generally get to work around the house on weekends. I did get to scope out an '81 Ferrari 308 GTS with a Koenig wodebody kit on it for a friend of mine. I still get to play with cars for a bit, just none of mine.

Re: What did you get done?

put a hitch on my camaro, built a trailer to put my new bed on to tow behind my camaro, painted the new bed flat back spray paint, pulled the new bed from CT to WV without a breakdown. see my other post for pics. during the week i also put headers, Y pipe, complete new WS6 front suspension on my Z28, and a mail order tune and then didnt even get to beat on it before i had to tow that stupid trailer down to school. oh well, once i got it unhitched i raced my friend in his supra and beat him

Re: What did you get done?

I got the intake off the Jimmy and put the TPI base down. Gotta get a new fitting for the rear oil pressure to miss the TPI.

Found my spare 87-91 Blazer sending unit and found that it is for a deeper tank than what I have, guess I will be upgrading the tank to the EFI version now.

Re: What did you get done?

I haven't been able to do much truck related since this spring for the most part. I did on Saturday install a new heater core. That was a chore, but I got it done in a hour and a half. I want to start the kick and surrounding area sheet metal replacement. I just need to study up a little bit more on the welding and panel placement category. I'm being a little hesitant with that project!

Re: What did you get done?

Worked on my 83 on Friday. I've been having a lot of problems getting it to run good and stay running good. I knew it was a fuel problem. Finally decided to drop the tank, clean it out and start fresh, new gas, new filters and a clean carb. Now it's running great..took it out for about 30 minute test drive, no problem, no leaks...Now its time to make it pretty...

Here's some pics of it now...
Lot of work ahead!

Not a whole lot of anything. Just kicked it with friends. Cleaned my cars and got a couple decals on it. Helped my bro on his car for a little while.
