I have a 70 2wd lwb that I am going to be swapping onto a 68 4wd frame. When I took the cab off of the 2wd drive frame this weekend, I noticed that the cab mounts were different than the 4wd frame. The 2wd mounts were flush with the top of the frame, and the 4wd were about 1" - 1.5" below the top of the frame. Is this a normal difference between a 2wd and 4wd frame?
I would like to know if I need to do some mods to the frame before I stash the 2wd frame in storage. Thanks guys.

The 2wd 1/2 ton use different mounting than 3/4 ton 2wd and all the k series (4wd).The cab will go on w/out mods.Just specify when you get cab mounts that it is for a 4wd and that will get you the right rubber mounts.The 2wd ones wont work.So,that's what you need--4wd rubber cab mounts,that's it,And also a "high hump" floor if you dont have one already in the cab

I thought so. my trucks aren't stored at home and I didn't really pay attention to it. I looked at the pictures I have and they do look the same.

If it has an auto trans the cab will clear everything alright without the high hump.
I've seen one without the high hump(not my truck). I also just sit my cab on the frame and it seems to have worked. I'm still going to cut it out and put in a high hump just in case I ever need to swap engines. Without it I don't know how you would get to the bolts.

If the T case is to be installed the high hump will be needed.

I can take pictures if you would like. I have a 1/2 ton 4x4 with a cab bolted to the frame. No high hump. I haven't cut a hole for the shifter yet. It has a 350. with an auto trans and transfer case. the engine trans and transfer case was on the frame before I put the cab on it. Here are the only pictures that I have

is the hump in this truck higher than a normal low hump cab? Have you guys tried to put a low hump cab on a 4x4 frame and it wouldn't work? I'm wondering why mine worked but it looks like everyone else has a problem with it...I will be installing a high hump so I have access to the trans bolts in case i ever have to change it. besides it is correct to have a high hump so i'm going with that sit up although I don't HAVE to.

the hump is much lower than the high hump that I got from a board member. the picture my make the hump look taller than it is.

Thanks for the input. Glad I wasn't just imagining the difference. I did score the high hump out of the donor truck. I have already cut the hole in the 2wd cab. What should I use between the two panels when I bolt it down to keep the water and grime out of the cab?
