A/C question

hey all, i just had a few questions about getting aftermarket A/C in my 67. ive had it for a while now with no a/c. and didnt really worry about it, but man.....its hot. i live in texas, and just having the vents open, and the windows rolled down just aint cuttin it. i was just wonderin which brand of aftermarket A/C is best/cheapest. ive heard of vintage air, but ive also heard some negative stuff about it from a buddy who put it in his 57 chevy. so....a little input would be great. also if you can get some pics of it that would help out a lot too.

There are two or three outlets for A/C out on the market. Vintage Aire is one of the most promoted ones and those that I know that are using it are happy with their results. What problems did the friend of yours have? Maybe it was just a one-off thing. For a complete list of aftermarket companies, pick up a Street Rodder magazine, they all sell through that venue and your slection is unrealistic, once inthat realm.

thanks for the tips. im not sure what he meant. all i know is that he told me that he had some "problems" with his Vintage Air. hey whats the cost of one of those units btw?

Look at soending roughly 1100.00 for a VA unit after brackets, pulleys etc. I put one in my old 72 and it was awesome. No problems at all! I had to keep it on low or it would freeze me out. I also put a VA unit in my '56 Bel Air, but haven't hooked the lines up yet. It was pretty easy to install. I say stick with VA, They seem to work for me well!!
