highlander ?
Is the spid the info on the glove box door? If so my spid says avacado highlander 161310. Does this make it a highlander? If so don't most have a different looking seat?

I replied to your other post before seeing this one but here is the info once more: Quote: Originally Posted by BB72CHEVKT wait guys i am freaking i have owned this truck since before 95 and just noticed it is an an avacado highlander??? why no highlander seat??? Looks like your original 72 highlander seat has flew the coupe, and in its place now nest a 69/70 cst (single scroll) type seat. I have atached a photo of the highlander seat that should be in your 72, it is in a 72 parts truck I have with the avacado highlander deluxe package including p.s., tilt, a/c and soft ray glass. The promo package was available in 3 other colors and was a 72 option only. Cb |

Re: highlander ?
Every original highlander optioned truck that I have ever seen or owned has had the plaid type fabric seat like the one I posted a picture of. As for the seat that is pictured in your 72, I have only seen that seat cover with single type scroll pattern in 69 & 70 trucks. There is a chance if you were to look in the seat back cushion springs or even the bottom side of seat cushion springs there maybe a build forcast sheet for the original truck that the seat was removed from. Should you find the sheet with a 72 Vin # matching your trucks vin, then the original seat has been recovered with a earlier type all vinyl cst seat cover. Cb

Re: highlander ?
The base highlander had the seat. I don't believe the seat could be deleted.

Re: highlander ?
Seats swap out as easy as a set of tires/wheels(easier).Would take about 15 minutes to swap another original seat in place of a worn seat or one that you don`t like.Alot of guys don`t appreciate the plaid, especially back a few years. The plaid can be itchy, too.

Re: highlander ?
I am going to have to find the build sheet as the truck was all together and in damn good shape when I bought it about 94 and titled it in 95. The seat
that is in there and is in good shape minus tear in cover. If it did indeed have a plaid cover and do not know what I will do come replacement time. I like the white cover but it would be cool to have the original highland optioned cover in there to show it is indeed a highlander. Where do they usually stash the build shet in the seat? The seat is unbolted and I could get to it easily.

Re: highlander ?
if the spid says it, that's what you've got. some say highlander, some say special promotional. all were custom deluxes. i had a solid medium olive big block one owner about 10 years ago, every since is when i started the search for another til i found mine. the plaid can be bought, but it's pricey ($85 a yard, takes yard and a 1/4) and you have to have scroll in center made or find a good original, plus have it built, but that's what i'm doing.

Re: highlander ?
yes, if it was a highlander, it had plaid, that's why it says avocado. i have a small piece of nos plaid, but not enough to do a cover, but sms auto fabrics has it, they can also build the scroll in the center.

Re: highlander ?
hate to tell you, but she would be correct in your wrongness. it was part of the package, and they all had it. the plaid was bad about deteriorating, my truck was super clean and original as well, but the PO had recovered seat, he did it similar, but it's not absolutely correct. i like the green, mine in the early 90's had under 100k miles and was garaged and the plaid in it was frail, so even being all original and nice, they didn't hold up well. bottom line, your truck did have the plaid new.

Re: highlander ?
they won't build a whole cover. the plaid is $85 per yard (takes 1 1/4) the scroll inserts were $125, and then you would have to buy enough vinyl and have someone build it. it's gonna cost me a mint, but i want it, so i will.

Re: highlander ?
So,have we finally established that "ALL" Highlanders had plaid seats, yet? There was a time I didn`t even take pictures of my stuff. What a lack of foresight!!!Like,my first truck that was a Highlander.I didn`t even pay attention to the SPID.But,I bought it off the "OK" used car lot at Sport Chevrolet near Silver Spring,MD in`73.What I remember about it:
Solid Ochre paint Fleetside shortbed Grey plaid 402/3spd/posi Monte Carlo wheel covers Not a single accessory or thing added that wasn`t on it from factory...nothing.Including a not a single scratch in the bed or on the threshold. $2,800 on the road Makes you sick, doesn`t it? Here`s what will finish you off......cruising down US29 (a dual lane hiway) someone came out of nowhere runnig a red light, that had been red,and t-boned me.Totalled it!!!I was devastated, but unhurt. So,now you know why I`m such a sicko over these trucks.Sometimes mental trauma can change a person`s life.I wonder who I would be now if that event had never occured.Moreso, what about that truck????
