My Z'ed 81
I finally got a camera so I can take some photos of my truck now. I am reassembling it after doing a 4.5" Z and redoing my notch to match.

Re: My Z'ed 81
It depends if I ruin anything putting it back. Right now the plan is to leave it though. I have thought about cutting the rockers off and bodydropping it 3" as well. We'll see.

Yep. I would leave about a 1/2" inch below the doors so I can atleast open them, haha. The problem is my front bumper is on the ground now so I would need to figure out what to do with it when I bodydrop the truck.

Re: My Z'ed 81
Actually now that I think about it I measured the total height of the notch that I made. You need to subtract 4" for the tubing to get what you are looking for I believe. So, I only cut about 9". Also, my bumpstops are about 1"-1.25" thick and that's how far my axle is from bottoming out on the notch.

Re: My Z'ed 81
Thats a huge z! What did you do under the cab. Have you cut your frame down? It doesn't look like the pinch is quite on the ground. I only did a 2.5" z on mine and had to cut the floor in the cab. My frame is cut and boxed 2" shorter and it lays pinch hard (on 17's). Looks good, i always loved your truck!

Re: My Z'ed 81
hes running a 27'' tall tire. 255/35/20. so he would have to add to the z inorder to get the pinch weld on the ground. its the only way to go. aslow as you can go. love the truck man, exlant job!!

My bumper is about like yours too but I am going to cut the bottom of the front bag brackets so that should up the bumper on the ground. I want to cut the rockers off and bodydrop it another 2.5" to 3" so then I would have an issue with the bumper. Do you have photos of what you did to your truck?

I don't understand? I'm laying pinch and my bumper's not on the ground. I'm close but about 1/2" to 3/4" to go. I thought the only way you can lay bumpers on these trucks is cut the rocker down???

Re: My Z'ed 81
i don't have any pics of the actual work in progress (nor after) sadly. I just bought a nice digital camera this past weekend so i plan to take alot of pics when i redo everything and paint it. I basically did what you did except 2.5" Z. I have and only plan to run 17's so it all worked well. I have a 1.5" sectioned front x-member that will be installed when i pull the motor to repaint the truck. That along with ART upper and lower a-arms. The way my truck is set up, i can (or will) be able to lay body on 17's or i can lay pinch on 20's. I am playing with the idea of getting 20's but prolly won't on this truck. I just wanna get this one done so i can start another hehe. It's looking good tho, hurry up and get it back together so i can see pics!!!

Re: My Z'ed 81
I found a couple of photos from right after I painted it. I think that was in 1999. It had 3" spindles and a flipped axle, 8" rally's and 275/60/15's. I should have left it alone cause I'd be driving it right now instead of looking at it, haha.
