72GMCburban, are you talking about the outer or inner grill?

Re: old 72 grill
depending on the bodycolor, I have seen inner grills painted flat black and looked good.
I'm sure there is a silver that would look close to stock, but I can't think of anything to recomend. I've done it in the past on an old crappy Citation, and the wrong silver WILL look like crap, even to the untrained eye. Stay away from the gloss paints, a matte or even flat would probably be best, and something that was more on the gray side of silver would probably be best. I think I would just buy a few cans and test on something other than your grill and see if it's a close match. You might get lucky and get a store that'll let you test and return cans of paint. |

Re: old 72 grill
I have always heard the silver on wheels refered as Argent Silver.
The best grill update I have seen was painting the plastic insert flat black and then apply silver chrome pin stripe tape on the horizontals. It really dressed up the grill.

Re: old 72 grill
problem with saying argent, I've asked for it and gotten like 6 shades of it, and NONE of them looked good. (talkin spray bombs, not professional paints)
I think the closest I've found if memory serves, was the little cans of testors spray, but it was too shiney IMO. |

Re: old 72 grill
I saw rattlecans years ago called 'dull aluminum'.. Might work if you can find it; I've long since forgotten the brand.
