Blazer 4' lift which has best ride

All, I'm looking to put a 4" lift with 33's under my blazer. While I have a bunch of things to do. I'm pretty much done with the rewire and you can't offroad with slicks (plus to of the tires are constantly going flat). Anyways I'm looking for a nice soft ride I'l be doing very llittle offroading mostly just going to the lake or driving in the arroyos. Nothing hardcore. I do want to go all springs so I know that will make it stiffer. Any help would be great, Thanks ahead of time. -Jason

I've been pleased with Tuff Country springs and would recommend them. 4" and 33"s will be a nice combo for what you intend to do with your K5.

BTW is your front axle a closed knuckle? You will need to address your steering with a 4" lift and with a closed knuckle you need an adjustable drop drag link. If it is an open knuckle than you can use the raised steering arm.

Good point Yukon Jack I may have some more questions? I'll check the axle when I get home but I'm pretty sure it is open. I'm still working on those jeep pics. My parents were up this weekend and while my dad told me how much fun he's having driving my jeep.He forgot the pics. Parents and technology. what a mix.

You should look into a 4" shackle flip for the rear if you want a softer ride.

But if you do the shackle flip you'll probably want to do something to relocate the axle back a little. When I did the shackle flip on my 69 K20 it put the rear axle pretty far forward in the wheel well. Just something to keep in mind.

I have a 4" tough country, but I do not have very many miles on it. The previous trucks I have owned also had tough country lifts. I have been pleased so far.

I have a 4/6 Rough Country lift on 35's and it rides better than my wife's
99 trailblazer. Honest just ask "Ron 586" since he has actually ridden in it.

My Jimmy has what I believe to be a 8" spring lift. I know it is rancho and I think it rides pretty darn good for so much lift. Now if I could just get rid of the tire howl. Oh well.

Well, here is a picture of my driver side knuckle. I was wrong maybe it's the open type can anyone tell? How will this impact the lift? Also I thought about the 6 inch lift and 35's. But that just seems like a little much for cruising town. For sure I don't want to swap the axles so I don't think i can go bigger than 35's. Plus I like the way the 33's tuck right in the well's (at least on all the pics I saw). Is there any special reason I would need to do the 4/6 inch lift? Also the right rear spring is shot so I've got to replace them anyway. That''s why I think i'd rather do it that a shackle flip. -J

Long Roof I just happen to have the solution to your problems I have four "slightly used" almost new tires on mine that while I hate to part with them I wouldn't mind them going to someone that needed them They have about a 1/16 of an inch of tread on average and 2 of them have "slow" leaks. But if your willing to pick them up when I'm done they are yours'

That's an open knuckle axle..The issues with the front axle and lifting is there is no raised steering arm for a closed knuckle axle,which is needed in a lift,but you can get a raised steering arm for an open knuckle axle.If you get a 4" lift you probably wont need a raised steering arm anyway..I vote 4" lift,not Rough Country though..I'll never buy from them again..Maybe get a add a leaf in the back added so it will sit level when the top is on..

THANKS 1969, how does the add a leaf thing work does it bolt on after the fact or do you just order it as a heavier spring. Is this the reason for a 4"/6" lift? Also any good vendors cause it sounds like tough or tuff country is the way I should go.

The "add a leaf" is just another leaf that goes in the spring pack that claims to add 2" of lift..Luv's 4/6 lift is like mine (I would assume).Mine was ordered as a 4" lift but they come with 6" rear springs..I loaded my truck down with 400 pounds or so of concrete and let it sit over a three week period,then removed and let it sit another week, and that leveled it out.I assume the top would do the same thing when on,level it out but it would be slightly higher in the back than the front with the top off...I dont think they look that bad a little higher in the back,but I'm not a fan of the 4/6 lift on my truck...
I dont think there is any board members that sell lifts but you might get a used one on the parts board..

If all your wanting to run are 33's then why not leave the stock suspension in. They'll fit with no problem. They fill the wheel wells very nicely. You should be able to run 35's with a 4" lift. It all depends on the wheels and backspacing. If your on the street most of the time then I know you won't have a problem. What size are those SSR's in the pic?

Big J the SSR's are 32x11.50-15's I'm sure I could shoehorn in the 33's but I think I want to move to at least 16 inch rims and maybe a little narrower tire. When I get this thing reapainted I don't awant to have it throwing every rock it sees on the paint. Maybe that will never work I'm new to fixing up these blazers. I do like the way these fill out sideways but a little less would be fine too. My big deal with lifting it is I want it to look taller ( plus I'm fat and I can barely fit under the trans crossmember on a creeper as it is ). Once I get the lift on I might decide to throw the bigger tires on which is why I want to lift it first since I have to fix that rear spring anyways. Where do I find out about the wheels and backspacing at? Thanks -J

I've got good results with an all spring E-Z Ride lift.

Alot depends on the shocks you run for the ride you get.

Not really but having a set of zero rates on hand wouldn't be a bad idea.
Here's a recent pic with the top on.

IMO, for the street and street manners, 33's and a 4" lift are the way to go.

Decent ride from the suspension and the tires aren't getting to big yet.

Running 35's and up, it gets dicey as to the road quality your going to have.

Allright folks I decided to go with the Tuff Country Ez-Ride 4" lift. Does anyone know the best place to find a good price. Also I saw an awesome link on here some where to some all metal zero rate springs. Does anyone have that link. Thanks again for all of the help. -Jason

Also is the 52" spring pack in the rear standard or are they just using that for a softer ride? Last will I have to lengthen my dirive lines to put this lift on?-Thanks again.
