Help Speedo to NP205 thingy
Does anybody know what that thing is called that is some kida of gear convert that goes from the NP205 to the speedo cable. Its an L shaped box and with female connector on one side and a male on the other. I had to replace my speedo cable and when I was removing it I noticed the screws that held that thing to gether had kinda fallen out and it was not closed all the way. I opened it up to check the inside and like an idiot I let the double sided gear in the middle fall out. I can't figure out which way to put it back in. It has more teeth on one side or the other.
Thanks -Jason Ok I figured out its called a ratio adapter.

Re: Help Speedo to NP205 thingy
I had one of these a long time and just sold it last week. Had you been a week earlier, I could've helped you figure out how it goes together! Perhaps you can email the company you got that pic from and ask them.

Re: Help Speedo to NP205 thingy
Brad now that I've figured out what it does I guess I'll just put it together. The middle carrier gear (it's actually a double gear stacked and it ties together the input and output gear) is my problem at first glance it looks like a 1:1 gear but it's not. One side has a few more teeth. It seems to go in either way it just clicks louder when it's in one way. Also what the heck were these things lubed with? was it gear oil? Could I just pack this thing with grease?

Re: Help Speedo to NP205 thingy
I'm sure you could probably pack it with bearing grease and call it good.

I'm thinking of buying one of these once I determine what my exact ration percentage is. I've measured it with my wife going behind me on gravel road ( but no license plates yet) and at first it was off 15mph. I put a different gear in and now it's app. 5mph. But, it may be more or less once I get it checked out correctly. |

Ha I'm fixin to change the tire size too so I guess it won't matter. Alot of the threads I saw last night said a speedo shop could adjust the gears in it.
