Front End

I'm loking for a post that described how to remove the compents of a front end. The post had an external link which was a very good write that covered from rotor to rotor, removing the crossmenber, pressing out the ball joints ect ect. I usually copy good pages into word and save them. I didn't do this time.

I have searched the site and have found many good write-ups that cover various topics on the front end but this external link was very complete (expect it had no pictures)

The reason I looking for this is because I got my motor out, my front clip off, got a small sand blaster and was going to paint the frame. It seems to me that I have gone so far I might as well go ahead and redo everything now.

It seems a more than a little daunting because I have never done it before but I can get help if I need to.

Any tips or help would be helpful

Re: Front End

Thanks but the thread I am looking for wasn't in the FAQ. To make sure I checked again after you sent me the link. I guess I'll be googling it somehow.
tearing a front end down and painting the parts can't be so hard... I bet I can get it half right.

Re: Front End

Car Quest or Advance one has a web site with some good info on it.It breaks it up by component so you might have to read thru a bit to find it.

Found it try here http://www.advanceautoparts.com/engl...an/knowhow.asp

Re: Front End

If you have a digital camera you could take pictures as you dismantle everything. This will help you as a reference in case you get stuck during reassembly. If you take your time I think you'll be just fine. When I rebuilt mine I hadn't ever done one before, but it all went back together relatively easily. Good luck with the rebuild and post some pics if you get a chance.

Re: Front End

Thanks, I got a camera so I will take pictures. I read about 1000 posts on the site. So with that help and future questions and answers I'm hopeful it will go ok.

Re: Front End

Thanks!
That is a great pic. I saved it and printed out (for my own use) and it prints out on a full page annd is easy to read. I use the numbers with pics like these to mark the bagies I put the parts in. Along with some verbiage.

I found the site http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/chas...n/frontend.htm

It has got a lot of good info it is gear to 73-87 and written by Mike Ervin.

It just needs pictures.

thanks for everyone's help.

Re: Front End

This is a great thread. I'm surprised there hasn't been one put in the FAQ section yet...

Re: Front End

There are all kinds of threads about the front end. THey cover what year of ball joint compared to what year spindle verus A Arm. ( a recent post) Match ball joint with spindle; what are the part numbers for a complete front end rebuild, poly verus rubber versus something else.... so much I forgot.
Thanks again for all the help.
