lwb camper special bed side

I have a '70 camper special and would trade the right side bedside for a decent non camper special bed side. Mine is in o.k. shape but has a little dent right next to the camper door, and the bed rail is a little damaged, also needs a new box (mine has holes). If interested please contact me.

Re: lwb camper special bed side

you have any pictures? Is this a GMC longhorn bed, or a camper body??? What doors are you talking about?

Re: lwb camper special bed side

Let me decifer this...
Do you have an 8' Fleetside bedside with the optional,on any model,"Tool & Stowage Compartment?
Not all "CustomCampers" had this,it was an option.
GMC 8 1/2" equivilents to the Chevy Longhorn were called "CustomCampers".So,a "CustomCamper" bedside would indicate a bedside for one of those.Since you mentioned the door it would indicate the passenger side with the optional Tool & Stowage Compartment".
There would be nothing known as a "CamperSpecial" made in these series of trucks.Ford had a package and so did GM later on.But,GM never had a specific model known as a "CamperSpecial".

I`m sure you can clarify your ad,now.

It's a custom camper (not a longhorn, my rpo label states it has the camper wiring and storage box), my friend had an old ford camper special, so I just automatically think of that. It's the door on the bed that's in my picture (right side). I do have the key for it and it does work. thank you

I also would be willing just to sell the door, latch, and key. Make an offer (I have no real idea of what it's worth). Thank you.

Re: lwb camper special bed side

These if they are not rusted are pretty spendy. I would change this to a WIW post on the bedside toolbox door. I have seen the doors in good condition bring up to $200 for the door and hardware.

Can you get a close-up of the door?It doesn`t have the factory latch, but a utility bed-type handle.I wounder if the door was fabriacted, which would be an excellent idea.Years ago I had a guy that was going to make the skins, but it fell through.
I`ve never seen a wheel arch rust before the door.

There actually is no rust on the wheel arch. Just a poor pic. there is a few little paint chips that have surface rust on them, that is what is seen in the pic. Believe it or not, the truck is 98% rust free.

Re: lwb camper special bed side

I have paint chipped on my Highlander`s arches, too.Original paint/factory black primer showing.I figured it would be rare for a Nevada truck to have rust there.I know those latches get funky.I can`t open mine right now.I`d be interested in the door and fiberglass box.I just think shipping the bedside would be a tough one. Also,I have a CA bedside w/stowage door opening/no door that I bought for a spare.
