stock wheel size?

Here's an easy question for ya. What was the stock wheel size for trucks that had the front disk brakes from the factory?

4X2? or 4X4? What year?
15X8, 16.5X7, 15X7 were all available.

Re: stock wheel size?

70's 4x2 with front disks. I have a 69 2wd that I put the newer style front discs on and I just want to know what size steelies will fit. I have 15's on there now just so I can roll the chassis around and they barely clear the spindle.

Re: stock wheel size?

Barely clear the spindle ot lower control arm? Is the said truck lowered at all?

Sounds like the offset on the wheels is incorrect.

Re: stock wheel size?

Its a 3 in drop spindle. I had to grind it a little just so the wheel would spin. All I want to do is go to the junkyard and find some steel 5x5 wheels that I can use with my 73-87 disc conversion I did. The brake setup is all stock except the drop spindle.

Re: stock wheel size?

thats a tough one.my stock offset 15 inch rallies rubbed.i also have 3 inch drop spindles some guys have no problems.you may be able to grind more lip off if it's hitting lca.or expeirement with offsets.mine rubbed the lower ball joint hole.i wanted rallies.but,i just went with 17's.solved the problem.but cost a helluva lot more than i planned.

Re: stock wheel size?

15x7 Rally wheels will work perfect, they can be found on the same era vans.

Most people with a 3" drop spindle have rubbing issues with the wheels/LCA's. However, if you trimmed the LCA, you should be all set. The clearance is close, but it will work just fine (I have the same setup).
