The Longhorn Lives!

Today was a great day. I started the day by changing out the Elder Brock valve covers for Originals on my Custom C/10. I hate all that Chrome stuff. Then when I finished that, my buddy pulls up and we dive head on into the Longhorn trying to figure what I did wrong. About two 1/2 years ago I wired the junction box for both batteries and the alternator wrong and couldn't get no juice to the plugs. Today we fixed that and she fired right up. I thought it was a NASCAR Track the way the ole girl fired up. We had her running for about 2 minutes and then the gas started to come out of every orifice of the Carb. The Carb is holding allot of the fuel while running and then it starts to poor out the top areas of the carb by the sides. I will get that fixed hopefully this coming week.
For the first time in two years she fired up and ran strong. Now I have to fix the Carb. I am so happy I got my truck going again. I have been restoring this truck for 6 years. My hands smell like that nasty old gas, but that is okay because the truck is closer to driving. My Longhorn has been restored with parts from this board since I joined. This is a Board built truck. Thanks all for listening, just thought I would share the good news. I love my Longhorn

Re: The Longhorn Lives!

Post a pick of your Longhorn! I have been on this island for almost a day now and have not seen one '67-'72! I can't go a mile from my house without seeing at least one of our trucks. It must be the salt air here and proximity to the inexpensive Asian markets for cars.

Any members in Guam?

Re: The Longhorn Lives!

Thanks for the feedback fella's. I apreciate it. I will work on the pictures. I hope to take the carb in today to see why gas is coming out the side ports at the top.

Re: The Longhorn Lives!

Here is some update!
I had fuel coming out of the Elderbrock carb on the sides at the top, so I removed it and bought a rebuild kit and a local engine guy is redoing it for me as we speak. $ I got away with $75 for him redoing it for me. I can't wait to go get it and bolt her on to play some more. Just taking a guess, we think the floats were stuck to the bottom of the bowl.
