What did you get done this weekend?

I didn't do a ton this weekend. I managed to get my heater box installed, haven't had one in about 6 years. As you can see from the picture, I still need to tie up all the loose ends with the wiring, and need to run hoses to the core. It's not much to look at, but here's a pic anyway.

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Removed and replaced the front seat and door panels
Pulled the bed
Wire brushed the rear frame
Painted the rear frame
touched up some spots with paint
Kicked the tool box while carrying the bed, creating a gash in my leg
removed and painted the AC ball mounts

Other than that... not much.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Friday I did yard work hoping to beat our backlash from almost storm #10.
Yesterday I installed my Grand Cherokee Electric Fan and modified shroud. I also spent a lot of time yesterday and today working on body panel adjustments, mostly doors. It's so much fun for alignment when you have a mutt.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I need to watch that thread more closely Bill. It looks like you're going through some of the stuff I will eventually be going through.

I know what you mean about mutt parts, I've been through that on a friends Firebird.

I have a set of doors off my old 67 panel that I'll be modifying to fit the 68, but the funniest thing right now is that the passenger door on the 68 right now fits great, and the drivers door doesn't. The passenger side door is not original to the truck, the drivers door is

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

TJ, today I wished I had kept my original doors. I got these a while back because they had were already repaired. It looks like they were not done real straight either. Oh well live and learn.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I finally got all the brackets welded on the backside and got the dually flares mounted on 67 C-30. I had to do a little grinding here and there to get the fit perfect, but now there flush all the way around. Now, I've got fab up some braces for the bedside and the falre, and then take them back off and get them stripped down, sandblasted and POR-15'ed on the backside. I've also got to decide whether to use seam sealer or fender welting between the flare and bedside. I've also got to weld paches in and remove the side markers since this a '67!

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Here's a few shot of the whole truck. It really won't look right until I get the outside wheel put back on, but I took it off to have room to work.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I finially got around to installing my Custon Audiosound stuff. From LMC I ordered the radio with CD changer controls and a 10 disk changer and the kick panel speaker set. Everything works and sounds great! The other pics are of my buddy bucket console. I installed a dual 12V port setup in it. I know it's a sin to cut into a set of buddies, but myself, I'm not a purist. I do what works for me. I have plans for the factory cigar lighter as a secutiry option.....Mikey

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Truck wise I just replaced my drivers side door pins and bushings. But after I took the door off 4 or 5 times to get the gaps right it took a awhile.

Scraped and wirebrushed front suspension parts, worked on the garage a bit, cleaned a spare bedroom and worked on finishing the home office I have been redecorating. Also, carried the dogs to the groomer and made a trip to NT to buy some more wire brushes.Pulled the inner fenders and cleaned the deck.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Patched a hole in the floor

Replaced a few body mounts

Painted the frame where the gas tank is going with POR15

Also sandblasted and painted all the gas tank vent lines.

Painted myself a little also. all in all a very productive few days.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Saturday I had to stick around while I got a new furnace and A/C system installed. Too windy to fish today, not enough weekend to do any big projects so I backed the 72 out and washed it. Then I washed the truck. Then I realized I've never had them all clean at once so I backed the convertible out for a picture or two.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

removed the hideous stepside bumper. since I was under there, I cleaned the rear main harness up a bit and soldered some wires back. looked over at the right rear wheel and I was leaking brake fluid. uh oh, bad brake cylinder. changed that (plan on totally rebuilding the brakes this winter so this was a bandaid).

fished out the passenger side rear view mirror bracket and while I there cleaned the door thoroughly.

cleaned up the wiring under the dash.

BUT the best part was that I was able to find something that was able to cut through 38 years of oxidation to a very nice code 504 medium green metallic. then a light buffing and viola! beautiful factory paint on my no rust Wyoming stepside.....

and my wife and I got to spend a lot of time with our 6 month old son. That's always the best time spent!!!!

Congratulations! I got the motor I'm gonna put in my truck home. A 350 out of a '79 Blazer. I have to figure out what I can take off for pollution control stuff.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Well...I have been working on phase I of my build for the last 5 or more weekends (I know, I'm slow) at my b-i-l's shop. I've gotten the bodywork off the '72 C10 chassis and have started removing body parts from the '68 GMC and moving them over to the '72 chassis. Phase II will marry the '68 body (after going back over it) and chassis back together after I've completely built the '68 chassis from the ground up with mostly modern parts.
I've got it ready to move the cab next weekend, and start attaching the steering, brakes, fuel system, etc... and hopefully after getting around the linkage and wiring conversions....fire it up.

Based on the underside of the truck ('68) I expected the cab floor to look good...but was still pleased (read: pleasantly surprised) to find the floor is as nice as it is.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I started work on my manifold removal. been through a half a can of PB Blaster. Some are coming along nice.. Others...

I thinking I will have to have off the air injection stuff for enough clearence to get to the other bolts. that crap is nailed in as though as the other stuff. I have a buddy that will be welding up the holes in my doors this weekend.

was thinking about just keeeping stock style horns, but a little taste headers might be in option.. actively seeking opininons there..

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

My daughter and I took the '72 for breakfast Saturday morning, I got a haircut, then yard work.

Today I flew out of DFW to Kansas City for work. My highlight was finding out that my rental car is a new Mustang...it is alot nicer than the Nissan's I usually get stuck with. So much for working on the truck this weekend...

Glad to see what y'all have done...good work!!!
