Rear axle measurement HELP!

I bought a rebuilt rearend out of a 67 2wd and went to take some measurements for disc brakes and discovered that the offset between the flange and the face of the plate is 1.75 inches. I was told that this should be more like 2.8 inches. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Re: Rear axle measurement HELP!

You may have been give the measurements for the 70 & later model rear ends. The are around 3/4" - 1" more on each side. Other than that I don't have any answer for you.

Re: Rear axle measurement HELP!

I think the difference on those is from flange to flange?? The measurement from flange to plate should be the same on all of them??

Re: Rear axle measurement HELP!

You are probably right, but that was all I can remember. Sorry that didn't help.
