I have a set of the new flowmaster super 44's. I can call you if you would like to hear sometime. They sound like a hot rod/muscle truck should sound.

Re: Best muffler sound
I hate the usual suspects [Hooker Aero chambers, Flowmasters, etc] and decided to go with Thrush Turbos and 3" echo chambers....sounds great!

Sorry, headers 3" exhaust and 40 series Flowmasters are the only way to go!

Re: Best muffler sound
Yeah Mudder is run'n SuperTrapps & they sound sweet !!!
I run headers / true dual 3" pipe into Cherry Bomb Extreme mufflers, that dump out under the bed about 2 foot behind the cab aimed out like weed whackers (single chamber race muffler) & wouldn't have it any other way !!!! Loud & Proud !!! Last edited by Spray-Bomb; 09-30-2007 at 11:30 PM. |

Re: Best muffler sound
Hands down the best sounding street muffler out there is the Terminator IMO. They don't have the metallic tinny sound like Flowmasters, and they don't have the raspy or poppy sound of others. They are very deep and powerful sounding. They make a small block have a deep big block sounding rumble.

Re: Best muffler sound
dynomax bullets. 35 dollars new at some places. 3 inch in and out. i got 2 they're a step down from open headers. you cant put them below another muffler if comparing loudness. they're pretty much a glorrified glasspack. instead of fiberglass, its wrapped with stainless steel mesh stuff that wont blow out over time. |

Re: Best muffler sound
I have 3" flow's on mine & like them, especially when you have the pedel to the metal. BUT, I am still a big fan of the old style wrapped thrush/summit turbos & may go back to them this spring...

Re: Best muffler sound
I am running Dynomax Cyclone headers (I think that's what they are called now), with 2-1/2" aluminized pipe into single chamber Mello-Tone mufflers. Exits at the bed corners in rear.
http://slickorange.com/board/orange.MP3 Pretty loud - but when cruising (especially in 4th with overdrive) it isn't bad at all. When you are WOT, you can hear it roar though. DLB |

Re: Best muffler sound
MAGNAFLOW!!!! Its basically the same thing as a straight pipe. A nice rumble at idle, loud enough to know its there when cruisin, and at WOT they sound freakin amazing!!!! If you want a deep, throaty exhaust note and performance go with magnaflow.

Re: Best muffler sound
Any type of glasspacks.
Not loud enough? Beat the glass out.

Re: Best muffler sound
I have just regular old Flowmaster 40s and love em. I really like the tone and the resonance in the cab is five million times better than the cheapy turbo things that were on the truck.
My buddy has Super 40s on his Camaro and those sound awesome too, he has a big cam and the sound will make you melt. That is until he opens the cutouts and then it's just game over...
