Re: help pricing this truck
10 grand?
Other than the air bags - it looks like a basiclly stock crew cab with a slick paintjob. I am not bagging on it at all because i think it looks outstanding, but i think you should be able to get a clean stocker for 5-7k with decent miles. The mods and the total packages' appearance adds value if done right Truck looks great though and i wish i had one like it Last edited by streetstar; 10-01-2007 at 07:56 PM. |

Re: help pricing this truck
You cant build a truck or buy a truck like that around here for $10,000. Cant say what its worth because I have never seen one like that for sale but I know what body shops charge around here. They aint cheap!

My suggested price is based on nice 1 ton's with decent miles being available from 5-7k in my area. And we all know what happens when we sell a modified vehicle, -- all the things we did to it are priced at pennies on the dollar compared to what we have in it |

Re: help pricing this truck
Looks as if it's a short bed, which means the frame was shortened. Also looks like regular 1/2 ton suspension was installed for regular 5 lug wheels. Not something you could ever have ordered from GM.
I think the fact that it's a crew cab short bed and done very well ups the value quite a bit since it's looks excellent, and crew cab shortbed half ton trucks are the hot thing on the new truck market. The large wheels are also in style. The truck is dead on as far as being current with style. The 454 and turbo 400 are desireable options too. I'd say somewhere around 8-10 grand is about right. Have you priced a new truck lately? Do you even like the new trucks? In my area I dont agree with you about modifications being worth pennys on the dollar. Now personally I have no use for a dropped truck. But suspension systems that give more lift, bigger axles etc will add to the value of the truck(around here). Now the value of dropped trucks is something im not really sure about. Where I live you need 4wd 6 months out of the year. But I know im currently saving my $ to get the body done on one of my trucks. Im not getting nothing fancy done. Just painting the whole thing red. But there is body work to be done, some panels need to be replaced, nothing drastic mind you. Anyway its going to cost me atleast $8000 just to get the body work done. |

In the new truck market, aftermarket wheels and lift kits do very little for re-sale value. take 2 identical late model Silverados or F150's, except for one having a 4 -6" lift and oversized tires, with the same miles, and the price difference will be negligible -- in fact, a lift kit can also be looked at as a liability in some circles because of the rate they wear out front end components, brakes and transmissions if "idiot-size" tires are used without upgrades in those areas too. Another factor is geographics -- if you live in a place where you need 4wd 6 months out of the year, thats another story-- but driving down dirt, gravel and snow and icy roads does not absolutely require 37" tires, 1 ton axles, and step ladders to get in and out of ------ a lot of people there drive Subaru's because they are AWD. Small imported 4wd's too And $8000 for a paintjob does not surprise me at all if its a thorough paintjob -- but i would be very surprised if it added more than 3 or 4000 to the re-sale value of the truck, if that. Thats just the nature of the beast, -- but if you love the truck and are not intending to sell it, then it doesn't matter. |

Re: help pricing this truck
Very nice, I would agree w/ 8-10k UNLESS it had a salvaged title. Here in Phoenix there is one being sold on c/l and you can tell that shortening the frame was not done right, not so in this case. So if it has a clean title I belive 8-10 would be reasonable.

Re: help pricing this truck
That truck is sweet. I'd give 10K easy if it was shortened properly.

Re: help pricing this truck
Then the body shop did a lot more than just paint it for 10g's i hope, unless the truck was a total wreck to begin with-- did they do the 1/2 ton and shortbed frame hack conversion too?
Which goes right back to what i said to our Alberta friend --- spend it if you want to, but dont expect an 8k paint job to add more than 3 or 4k to the re-sale value But he's in Alberta, where a truck that costs 36 - 45k here is $65,000 evidently So that 8k paint job is more like 5k in american dollars. You didnt say if this was your truck for sale or not -- if it is -- just sell it for what you can get, take your hickey and move on -(or keep it, you'd lose less $$$ that way -- but then again it depends on the circumstance) |

Like to give you an example about what I mean by clean. I even converted my doors from power to manual. I even took out the air conditioning because I didnt want all that clutter under my hood. Most of my friends are diving new Dodge duallies. There okay I guess. Too much electronics. Even the brakes are electronic. They have the dana hybrid axles. Guess they are strong but there massive. No ground clearence. Cabs are to big. Example the roof height is high but the rocker panels are low. Have no ground clearence. Just to much electronic stuff to go wrong on them.Plus they are egg shaped and the parts are silly expensive. Also whats with the trend to wagon wheels these days? How are wagon wheels any better. IMO they just dont make sense. Not on a truck anyway. But hey I agree about the $8000 paint job not making my truck worth $8000 more. Its just that I hear guys on here saying such and such truck is only worth so much $. But yet I think to myself, gosh I would love to know where I could go out and buy or build a truck like that for that much $. Because I know I cant, not around here anyway. PS On Trucks the TV show they coverted a 66 long box to a short box not so long ago. They had 30 hours into it when they were about half way through the job. Whats your time worth? If you farm out the work look what thats going to cost. Last edited by Roper; 10-03-2007 at 10:31 AM. |

Re: help pricing this truck
You haven't followed the market much lately have you? As of right now, the exchange rate between Canadian and US dollars is about 1:1...meaning, $1 here in the US equals $1 in Canada.
http://finance.yahoo.com/currency/co...submit=Convert As far as the value of this truck, it boils down to finding the right buyer. I personally think the truck is worth around 12K by looking at the pics and reading the description...BUT that could be high or low depending on what it looks like in person, how it runs, and all the little detail work. If I was looking for one of these, and if it were priced at 12K, I would consider it.

Re: help pricing this truck
I vote 8-12,000 depending on where and how bad someone really wants it. That is what it is worth.

Re: help pricing this truck
Check me on this guys, but in this vintage a crew cab would be a 1 ton or at least a heavy 3/4. Now I'm looking at the 5 bolt wheels and low profile tires and thinking someone has made a Suburban with a box on the end. I question if the frame was shortened, it looks more like a half ton frame was stretched (5 bolt hubs?). So now we have a truck with seating for 6 and load capacity for none. i can't imagine trailering a 5th wheel or anything bigger than a pop-up. The rims and tires alone limit the load capacity (and quite frankly I'd be scared to drive it down my Michigan roads with those tires - too low).
10K for a really cool car (which it is) seems about right. It's worth is not in the truck, it's in the neat factor. |
