thought you guys might like to see this one

i know its been a while since i have been on the forums here, but last time i was i was looking at buying an all original '84 Chevy(of course) 2wd 1/2 ton short box....and i did so...spent some time with clay bar and cleaned it up good....took it to a car show and tied for 2nd place with a 2004 Chevy SSR in the stock truck class....i was amazed to tie with something that was 20 years newer than mine....but here is the pictures of the trophy and the truck...

I, on the other hand, am surprised the judges felt a new SSR could hang with yours

sweet truck and congrats on the trophy
Are you leaving it stock- or breathing on it a little?

want the paint codes?? i can look at the tag on my inner wheel well and get them for ya..

as for plans with the truck....it only has 62,000 miles on it so i figure i'll leave it as stock as possible untill something goes wrong with the motor. Then its time to pull the 400hp 355cid out of the 4x4 and put it in the shortbox.....i do have some minor body work to do (i.e. take care of minor surface rust and a few dents) which i plan on doing this winter while it is in storage..... you guys wouldn't believe how clean the truck is.....never been on gravel or seen an iowa winter other than maybe through some shed doors...

thanks for all the compliments

Re: thought you guys might like to see this one

Mine has 69,000 original miles on it and has been sitting in my garage since may. I got two weeks left over here in Iraq. I plan on hitting the swap meet in moultrie Ga in november to pick up alot of original parts. I still have the paint code but thanks for the offer. I was glad to see how good yours looked with original paint and that has got me wanting to keep mine stock.

Later Guys.

A claybar did that? I have pretty bad oxidation problems, Ive just been waxing the crap out of it, I may have to try a claybar.

Re: thought you guys might like to see this one

It all depends on the condition of the paint. Some will clean up but alot of them need repainted.

Re: thought you guys might like to see this one

if you've been waxing over the oxidized paint a claybar might not work on it....and yes clay bar cleaned up the paint like that.....i'm gonna wax it later this week and i am curious to see what it will look like then...

once again...thanks for all the compliments guys...

Re: thought you guys might like to see this one

Cleaned up pretty good. I am a sucker for originality not to mention that color sticks out from the rest. I wonder what it would look like with a nice aftermarket wheel combo. I have my eyes on the 17 to 20" rally wheels from wheel vintiques
