70's Van steering column question
Can someone tell me Exactly which 70's van columns work on the 67-72's? Every post that Ive read about this conversion refers to it as a "70's van column". I went to the junkyard and they have a 76 van with tilt column for 35 bucks, but i wasnt sure if it would work or not. Can someone help? Thanks.

Re: 70's Van steering column question
I am assuming you are looking at a GMC or Chevy van.
Basically, if the key isn't on the column it will work. If that column looks similar to yours it will work. A 76 GM van with tilt will be the correct tilt, unless it's been changed out to the keyed style but I can't see that happening.

Re: 70's Van steering column question
One quick way of looking for one, is as you are walking down the junk yard isle, just look at the Chevy/GMC vans for round headlights. Then look inside. Saves a little on the going back and forth. 70c10 pointed this out to me. Also, I believe that all van tilts up until 1981 will work. After that, they went to the key in the column.
