73-80 K30 Crew Cabs Drivetrain
I think I might scrap the lowered truck idea since I moved further north in WA. It will still be in that age range but how much power can the stock front and rearend put up with? The transfer case? Tire wise it will get 33x12.50x20's and if I lift it it wouldnt be more than 4". Im tall but climbing into a really tall truck bites these days lol.
The reason for the change is...traffic bites and I see long dirt roads to skip the highways with. Oh and since I'm going 20's it will get 14" rotors all around. |

Re: 73-80 K30 Crew Cabs Drivetrain
If it has the stock K30 drivetrain it will be pretty tough,as in as good as it gets for OE GM equipement.Turbo 400/NP205 combo or SM465/NP205,either are great tranny/t-case combos and the stock DANA 60 front and 14 bolt rear are also strong. They will handle 33s no problem but if that's what you plan to do with the truck, you might consider selling the front axle as off roaders are always paying high dollar for them and then you could get a smaller Corp. 10 bolt front cheap to use, just a thought if you need some money.
