I am looking at a 1971 stepside with cheyenne badges-but the glovebox sheet says cst-the model # is CEIC704 - can anyone help?

The absolute almost surefire way to tell if something is really a Cheyenne is to look at the headliner trim, If you take it off and the holes that hold the clips in are oval then it is a factory Cheyenne. If they are drilled or not there at all then it was put on by someone else. Hope this helps a little.

The CST model option ended in 1970 and the Cheyenne option started in 1971. Is it possible that the glove box door was switched? Does the VIV# match the VIN# on the title? It might be the same situation that we have with the 402BB. The 396 was changed to a 402 in 1970 yet the glove box sheet list the engine as a 396. I would guess you have a Cheyenne trim package and for some reason it is still listed as a CST? Maybe others will have a better guess than I.

According to the VIN on that door, the truck is a 71. It could have been a 71 built in late '70 and the person typing the option list goofed.

If you are judgeing by the GB option sheet it is a Cheyenne. GM used the "Custom Sport Truck Equip" for Cheyennes also. WES

DITTO!!Some Blazers,although being CSTs and not Cheyennes,would say "Cheyenne" on the glovebpx.Even a GMC could have the Cheyenne or Custom Sport Truck description.If it was a`70 CST or a`71 Cheyenne it would have the headliner and carpet...all the same stuff.

Well, remember, rare doesn't mean desirable.
How many times when you had yours, did you hear ppl question if it was real...how many ppl said you need to put a fleet side bed on it?
To the normal buying public, the stepside devalues it. To a true collector, or someone who looks at it as more than just a 'cool truck', we can apriciate the rareity of a true CST/Cheyenne with a short stepside bed on it.
Total bummer there's no production numbers on the option packages on each model number truck.
