Disc conversion

Ok, I did a search and read for awhile so let me make sure I get this straight.

I just bought a 67 with drums on front with six lugs. To convert to discs (I am on a budget), I just look for someone selling or parting out a 71-72 model, correct? Just need the spindle and rotor? I will be buying new bearings, and ball joints for my local store.

Also, I can get some axels from one of the vendors with the 5 lug and buy some shoes and drums to fit?

I hope I got this right.

Thanks for any help.. I am still learning but reading alot.

Re: Disc conversion

You aren't limited to a 71/72. You can get the front suspension from any 73-87 truck or 88-91 'burb. You can use the whole crossmember or just swap the control arms into your existing crossmember. I am not 100% on the rear, but someone will chime in and confirm whether or not that can be done. BTW, to the board!

Re: Disc conversion

73-87 Ball joints etc. are also cheaper(at least where I priced them. You do have to match the ball joint to the spindle used.
