look what followed me home friday

I bought this truck friday night, It is a custom 20 that has the original 350 4 barrel carb in it, It has a 4 spd tranny and a no spin rearend, It had some paperwork in the dash on the rearend it is made by Detroit Automotive Products, I'm not sure if I should fix it or part it out, I'm going to put a new fuel pump on it today and see how it runs, The guy told me the fuel pump was bad and it has a bad exhaust leak, Well I found the leak and it is missing two bolts on the exhaust flange, Here are some pics, This truck seems to have a good parts combo for some hard work.

Looks to be in pretty good shape save that right bedside. Even it is well within fixable range. Nice find.

I'd say she's a keeper, You could always find a better cab and other parts to put on it. It could make a good beat around in truck or possibly fix and resale.

I agree, that looks like a nice, complete, and original truck....much better to save it then part it out. Is the paint original?

Re: look what followed me home friday

I put a new fuel line and fuel pump on it today and it runs but you have to keep pumping the gas to keep it running like crap...after all of that I steamed the motor and cleaned it up pretty good and got it out of site of my neighbors..LOL...George

Well pull the plugs at least and see what they look like. Carbon, oil fouled? And get rid of those extension cords for plug wires. LOL My gosh, I've never seen wires that long on anything. You may have to put a kit in the carb to make it idle.

They are funny looking plug wires, We were laughing today that we could take them over the top of the fenders and run them under the inner fender wells....George

Re: look what followed me home friday

those extension cord plug wires are probably part of the problem, (not really) good find, dump the fuel in the tank and replace with fresh and stabil, replace the filter and try and see how it runs.

I did dump the fuel and put fresh in, And Changed the fuel filter, I messed with the choke and it is running on it's own now, I'm starting to like it, It really feels strong, I'm going to cut about 4ft off of 4 plug wires, The plugs look good, I'm not sure what the gear ratio is but it feels low even when you start off in second gear.....George
