Re: speedometer to transmission

I know my PG has has an o-ring inside the end that threads on to the transmission. Not sure if that's standard for all trannies, but I'd start by checking there first.

Re: speedometer to transmission

there is seal, which looks like a smaller version of the rear seal. you have to drill it out. and then tap a new one in place. the cable to could need replaced. i am experiencing the same problem. i have already changed the seal. but now i need to order a new cable

Re: speedometer to transmission

This is what mine looks like. There is an o-ring seal on it. Also, the nylon driven gear could be worn enough to allow fluid to leak through it. They are color coded and the dealers carry them.

Mine was leaking and I found out my cable was loose. I gave it a little tightening with a pair of pliars and stopped the leak.

Re: speedometer to transmission

Mine TH400 is leaking at that same place.

Any idea on who would have that inner seal?

I had enough trouble trying to explain to the parts guy what a selector shaft seal was!

Re: speedometer to transmission

Don't you have a 4wd? On a 4wd the speedometer cable goes in the transmission.
