what do i have
hey guys i am still sort of new to this 4x4 thing but i have a 1978 k10 with a 350/350 combo all original i was wondering what t-case i have and what axles,i know there 10 bolt covers but thats about it is there any tags or markings on them to let me know.

Most likely a 12 bolt in the rear, a 203 or maybe even a 205 transfer case and probably a dana 44 in the front. Thats if it is a half ton (six lug).

78 would probably be a corprate 10 bolt in the front.

10 bolt has 3" axle tubes, D44 is a little smaller, maybe 2.75"
Np203 5 shifter positions, but the 205 has only 4

78..it could either be a DANA 44 or a Corp.10 bolt..It most likely wouldn't have a NP205..probably a 203.

its definetly not a 12 bolt and the t-case only has 4 shifts L,L-LOC,H,H-LOC
so i guess that its a 205. i'm not new to cars in general just not used to a t-case or a front axle. thanks for all the help. |

if you installed a conversion kit in it, its definitely a 203. no other transfer case needs a conversion kit, because they all already have 2wd.

The rear axle should be a 12 bolt..The front will be a 10 bolt..but either a DANA shape,or in the shape of a Corp. axle..the corp. is more round than the DANA.L-loc and h-loc..sounds like a 203 to me.NP205 has 4 lo,N,2 hi,4 hi...Does it have locking hubs? It's been awhile since I've looked at the shifter on my '79 but it has alot of H loc,l loc written on the knob if I remember right and it's a NP203

it did not come with locking hubs but i installed some worn locking hubs and i also did the t-case conversion. i know its hard to believe i did the conversion without knowing what type of transfer case i have but i just called mile marker and he sent me what i needed.
