New Duramax (2001)
Hello all,
I just traded in my 01 burban for an 01 2500 4X4 duramax crew cab short box. This truck is really clean, and only has 86K miles. I'm new to the diesel crowd, so is there anything I SHOULD know, or look out for??? Thanks, A........

Re: New Duramax (2001)
The irony, DieselEater buying a diesel!
Treat her nice, follow the maintance schedule (make sure you change the fuel filter often), and have fun. I traded a 99 Suburban for a 04 Duramax 3 years ago. I still miss the ride and comfort of the Suburban but when I am pulling 10,000 lbs down the road you can not beat a diesel. For my diesel questions and discussion I hang out at /www.dieselplace.com/ lots of good answers there........

Re: New Duramax (2001)
Thanks for the info man...Yeah, I just can't afford to pull my PULLER with a built BBC. On my small one I average 4 miles per gallon!!!!! On my big one there is not enough vacuume to have accessories, and my MPG would be measured in gallons per mile!!!!!
A......

Re: New Duramax (2001)
Yeah I know what you mean. I pull my 31 ft holdiay trailer with my Duramax and probably get better mpg than most 6.0 gas guys do running empty!
Last summer I pulled my holiday trailer from Edmonton AB to Vancouver BC, over the Rockies, and driving aroudn 60 mph got 16 mpg! About the same pulling a 9000 lb deck trailer.

Re: New Duramax (2001)
Buy the wrench for the sensor on the fuel filter. I've seen people break a ton of those trying to use a cresent or channel locks on them. They aren't cheap either and the wrench doesn't cost much. Lisle makes one.
