Autometer gauge panel mock-up
I finally got around to making a template and mocking up my gauges. They are Autometer Antique Beige, 5" speedo and quad plus 3 1/8" tach and 2 1/16" clock. The black things are for switches for fog lts, driving lts and high beams. I got the chrome trim rings off ebay. They are replacement rings for another type of gauge, but I forget the name of the manufacturer.

Re: Autometer gauge panel mock-up
After I mocked it up, I decided the black switches just don't go, and after much Googling I found these. I emailed the manufacturer to see if they will sell to individuals (I think they're an industry supplier) and for a price quote. I also found these indicator lights on some Limey site (sorry if anyone here's a Limey). The switches are either non-illuminated, ring illuminated or dot illuminated and come in a bunch of colors. The Limey site also sells an indicator "legend" sheet, with all the little indicator figures as decals. I'll probably get the ring-illuminated switches and put fog/driving/hi-beam indicator stickers on them.

Nice work! With the right interior, those gauges are beautiful. Im not really partial to those indicator lights, though the top left ones are pretty trick.

Re: Autometer gauge panel mock-up
The top left ones are push-button switches. Sorry, I didn't make that clear. They are pretty slick, aren't they? If they're affordable I'll get a blue one, a green one and a yellow one, all ring - illuminated. I'm not sure I like the indicators either. They look a little cheap. I do like the stick-on picture labels, though.

Re: Autometer gauge panel mock-up
Thanks guys. I can't wait either The template is made out of 3/4" MDF, but I had trouble mounting the gauges because of the thickness of the panel. Next time I'll probably use 1/2" plywood or hardboard.
